G Entertainment is delighted to announce it has invested in a new West End production of the legendary stage musical 42nd Street.
The multi-million pound show will feature stunning sets and costumes with newly penned songs sitting alongside original, well-loved hits such as ‘We’re In The Money’, ‘I Only Have Eyes For You’, ‘You’re Getting To Be A Habit With Me’ and, of course, ’42nd Street’.
This latest version of this musical comedy will run at London’s world-famous Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, with doors set to open to the public from March 2017.
Previous productions of 42nd Street have won numerous awards including the coveted Tony Award for Best Musical.
This new production will be directed by the one of the show’s original co-authors, Mark Bramble- whose other successes include Barnum, Treasure Island, The Three Musketeers and The Grand Tour.
The musical will be produced by GradeLinnit Company, run by Lord Michael Grade and Michael Linnit, who this year helped deliver the highly successful West End production, Sunset Boulevard, which starred actress Glenn Close.
G Entertainment has invested £500,000 alongside other investors to help ensure 42nd Street’s success.
Brooke Greville, CEO of G Entertainment, said: ‘We are delighted we have been given the opportunity to invest in such an august production as 42nd Street.
‘The team behind the new version of this legendary musical are second to none with long proven track records.
‘When you back a hit show in the West End the returns for investors can be incredibly attractive.
‘It’s fantastic to be involved in a project that produces both artistically and financially.’
The original West End production of 42nd Street opened at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, on August 8, 1984 and ran for a total of five years. Famously, the career of a teenaged Catherine Zeta Jones was launched, when, at short notice she stepped into the star role.
