G Entertainment Investment Hits The High Notes

West End musical 42nd Street- which is a key investment for G Entertainment- has opened to critical acclaim.

At the end of a dazzling press night attended by Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge, there was a standing ovation by the audience who had been enraptured by the new version of the stage show.

The critics and theatre-goers were treated to a mixture of old and new songs, glittering costumes and spectacular dance routines.

The Daily Telegraph newspaper described the musical as, ‘an achingly beautiful revival of an American classic’ and awarded it five stars, while the Daily Mail newspaper wrote, ‘From the opening moments of 42nd Street you know you are in for a good night.’

The Observer newspaper commented, ‘Forget La La Land. If you want to see hot hoofing, go to Mark Bramble’s production of 42nd Street.’

And there was a five star review from the industry bible The Stage which described the show as ‘extraordinary.’

G Entertainment has invested £1.3 million in the musical which stars singer Sheena Easton and plays in London’s world-famous Theatre Royal Hotel, in Drury Lane. The investment gives G Entertainment the equivalent of a 21.76 per cent share in the show. Following the success of the press night the musical has extended its run until at least October.

The Duchess was attending the musical in her role as Royal Patron of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices and the show has agreed to support the charity’s Nook Appeal which aims to raise £10 million to build a new state-of-the-art hospice facility.

Brooke Greville, CEO of G Entertainment, who was introduced to the Duchess during the interval, said:  ‘The show is sensational. Everyone who has seen it has been blown away.

‘It was such a spectacular night and to meet the Duchess was a tremendous honour. We mainly spoke about the Nook Appeal which I know she cares passionately about.

‘The musical was a tremendous investment opportunity for G Entertainment and the news that its run has been extended already is fantastic.

‘I’m expecting great returns on the investment and we’re confident the show will continue to flourish.’
